The Show

Yesterday I was lucky enough to attend the Kwantlen Polytechnic University grad fashion show. Entitled "The Show", it was a showcase of the graduating class. Each designer had to choose a niche market to represent. The quality isn't the best but here are some pictures I took:

The wedding dresses were my show favourite. They were made of eco-friendly fabrics, and showed the best craftsmanship. There were many more lines shown, but these were the best pictures.

P-r-o-m

Okay, so I'm back! I had an amazing time over spring break, there was so much going on. I got to learn some really neat things about the fashion industry, and I totally fell in love with it. I can't wait until I graduate high school, and get to turn to fashion full time! I still have another year left, but since everyone is picking out their perfect prom dresses, I'm going to pick out my favourites too!

Oscar de la Renta ($3,690, net-a-porter.com) This is my dream prom dress, but alas, it is too pricey, and definitely not right for my coloring. Those with a tan, I envy you! I love the detailing of the dress. The neon blue accessories make the blue in the dress pop, which I love.

Nothing says prom like Betsey Johnson's signature tea party dress! I saw this dress around Valentines Day, but I wasn't able to buy it for the holiday. Prom would suit it just fine too! I love the foil heart detail, and the bow. The empire waist and tiered skirt makes anyone look good.

Evening Two Of Hearts Strapless

($430, betseyjohnson.com)

Pictures from edressme.com

Turquoise and Purple by Scala ($278, edressme.com) I personally am too short to go with a full length dress, but for those who are taller, this is great. The jeweled bodice is a great accent. I love how flowy this dress looks. Available in other color schemes, such as pink and yellow.

Prom is the most exciting time of the year. I can't wait until I get to find my prom dress! I tried to get a variety of price ranges, because we all know how expensive prom can be!

Spring Outerwear

Its still a little chilly out, still not warm enough to go around with out a coverup. Ive picked out some low cost blazers, and shrugs for spring. I'm especially loving the comfortable boyfriend blazers and faux fur shrugs for spring.

Boyfriend Blazer ($88, victoriassecret.com) I love this blazer. It could work for both casual and formal looks. Its a little more fitted than boyfriend cuts usually are, but its still comfortable.

Frenchi Shrunken Jersey Blazer ($44, shop.nordstrom.com) I love this purple color they've named 'Heiress'. Its a great light jacket for spring. It would look great paired with a floral day dress.

Melodie Cropped Jacket ($34.99, delias.com) This is my favourite piece of this post. I love the dramatic flair of this faux fur jacket. It kind of reminds me of the leopard print jackets that are a signature of stylist Rachel Zoe. It would look great with a long sleeve shirt and skinny jeans.

Charlotte Ronson Bolero ($139, urbanoutfitters.com) It may be a little more expensive than the other pieces, but I love this bolero. Its great for keeping warm while showing a little bit of skin. It may be a little hard to tell, but its actually a dark brown color that goes great with bright colors.

Bright Bags

Everywhere around Hollywood, Ive seen bags in neon colors. Big, and bright, these bags are beautiful. Last time, I did a post on Valentino's collection of handbags. There were so many different trends in bags, I just had to do another trend. Bags are my love, and I hope you enjoy these!

Rebecca Minkoff Neon Rendezvous Clutch ($275, shopbop.com) Miley Cyrus has recently been spotted with a gorgeous Prada bag in a similar hue. I love the bright color, especially for spring. Made of patent leather.

Marc by Marc Jacobs City Bag Tote ($430, net-a-porter.com) I think this is the first time Ive ever featured Marc Jacobs, and that kind of surprises me. I love his designs. I love the color of this bag, its a really unique neon violet. Not too loud, but definitely eye catching. If I was to ask for something for Easter, this would definitely be it.

Pauric Sweeney Overnight 7 Patent Bag ($1,400, net-a-porter.com) This bag is edgier than I'm normally attracted to. Its hard to describe this bag to justice, but I love the way the zippers are placed. The neon blue is a statement in itself.

Twisted Hardware Doctor Bag ($68, urbanoutfitters.com) Mustard yellow is one of those colors that just go with floral prints. I love this oversized bag because it has a worn vintage look to it. It might not be an oversized sweater, but it looks so comfortable.

Rosettes and Red

Valentino is one of the most famous labels in the world. Known for their stunning red couture gowns, they are worn by many famous celebrities. I was browsing their website, when I noticed the most gorgeous.. handbags. I could do the typical Valentino red dress post, but instead I'll show you my favourite bags.
Valentino Garavani Petale Lacca Bag ($2,195, valentino.com) I love this bag, and would order it right now if I could. It is a great complement to the Luella skirt from the last post. Also comes in black.
Valentino Garavani Rosier Tote ($1,950, valentino.com) I love this bag for spring. The kind of ombre quality to the colors is amazing. It has a deep purple, dark magenta, and a light almost coral color.
Valentino Garavani Histoire Bag ($1,795, valentino.com) A very practical bag, with the signature Valentino red.Valentino Garavani Bow Clutch ($995, valentino.com) An evening clutch. Comes in red or black, and in leather or cloth. I personally like the high gloss look.

Do you like any of these bags?

Ode To Odd

This season I have seen a fair amount of new, interesting looking pieces. Its not bad, its just never before seen. Whether its a new shape, cut, or pattern, it's totally unique. It takes a lot of confidence to pull off these pieces. But if you have the look down, you'll probably get credit for being the first to wear it.

Omelle Danika Ribbon Shoes ($895, shopbop.com) It comes with interchangeable black and silver bows. These shoes are like a sandal/booty hybrid. I love the wow factor of these shoes. They are so cute, but its really tough if you are try to categorize it.

Luella Maud Extreme Frill Skirt ($1,810, net-a-porter.com) This skirt is described as psychedelic, and i totally agree. I love the bright lavender color, with the dark purple accent. It's defiantly an original piece, that will demand attention.

Lux Scoop Cross Back Tank ($32, urbanoutfitters.com) This tank top has an interesting crisscrossed back. I love how its taking attention away from showing off the front, and instead shows off the back. I wonder what people are pairing it with.

What is the most interesting piece you've seen this season?

Job Interview Outfit

I set up a job interview for a little boutique here in Vancouver. This is what I want to wear, I think it looks cute, but I'm not sure if it looks great. Opinions?

Blouse: Guess
Vest: Forever21
Jeans: Old Navy

My fav part is the seychelles shoes :

What do you think?

Stam

Being from Canada, I never get to really showcase Canadian stores, but I thought I'd do a piece on a Canadian model, Jessica Stam. She is a well known in the fashion industry, and is simply gorgeous.

She has doll like features, similar to supermodel Gemma Ward. Piercing ice blue eyes, and a sultry mouth. This makes her my favourite Canadian model, along with Coco Rocha, who grew up in my hometown. She has a classic look, that I am totally envious of.

She grew up in Kincardine, Ontario. Discovered in a Tim Hortons, which is a very popular Canadian doughnut/coffee shop. She has since risen to the top of her profession. She has a very unique kind of look, doll like, but not ethereal, overall very versatile. This year she will return as the face of Bulgari.

She has done a number of spreads, as well as walked hundreds of shows. My all time favourite magazine spread featuring Jessica Stam:

From a photo shoot with Gabor Jurina; If anyone has more pictures from this shoot, would you let me know? It was very difficult to find these.

So who is your favourite model?

What I Should Have Worn

This is the outfit I should have worn today. Too bad I don't own any of these items yet. Would you wear this? Better yet, does anyone have any of these items?

Silence & Noise Quilted Bomber ($128, urbanoutfitters.com) I think every girl should have a great leather style jacket. This looks great with literally any outfit, and will be a staple in your wardrobe.

Joie 'Brett' Blouse in Ivory ($91.99, bluefly.com) Each item I have picked for this outfit has such different qualities. Especially the blouse, which is more of a formal top. I chose this top because it is loose enough to tuck into the high waist of the skirt, but is still formal.

Loeffler Randall Full Skirt ($172, shopbop.com) This gorgeous skirt is almost a floral print, but not quite! I love the bright coral color. The high cut waist is great for tucking in a blouse. I love how flowy and feminine this skirt is, in contrast to the hard texture, and masculine feel of the leather jacket.

Braided Wedge ($32.50, alloy.com) I love the texture that these sandals give to the outfit. Although the jacket is black, I believe that these shoes still go well with the outfit.

Fringe Cross Body Purse ($29.99, charlotterusse.com) I love this bag. I think it gives an urban kind of feel, and kind of completes the outfit.

Well thats all for today :)

Spring Skirts

Skirts and dresses are probably my favourite clothing items to wear. Here is a quick Tuesday update for you!

BB Dakota Wildflower Confetti Skirt ($37.99, modcloth.com) Here we have a saturated pattern. Red, white, yellow, and blue flowers on a black background. The high waist is great for tucking in a blouse, or t shirt.

Nanette Lepore "Right Now" Skirt ($117, bluefly.com) This is a great mandarin color. It goes great with these boots:

Golden Goose Charlye Wrinkled Pull On Boots ($1,350.00, shopbop.com)

Myne Carrie Skirt ($202, shopbop.com) Neon is everywhere, but are you ready for it?

Marie Would Be Proud

Recently I was watched the 2006 Marie Antoinette movie, and I almost died when I saw the costumes. The style is very pastel, totally luxurious, and overall very feminine. Pinks, blues, yellow, lace, frills, and ruffles, basically costume eye candy. I tried to find pieces that matched the style, but had a difficult time. If you've seen something you think goes well with this.. let me know.

Rose Corset ($60, topshop.com) The rosette feature reminds me so much of the dresses Marie Antoinette wore. The pastel blue is what I think of as her signature color, as it was absaloutly everywhere during that time, clothing, furniture, and wallpaper. This shirt isnt a true corset, as it has a zipper up the back.

Lela Rose One Shoulder Belted Dress ($1,095, shopbop.com) Just the way Marie liked it, expensive, and elegant. The flirty ruffle will capture anyones attention, and you'll always look like a million bucks. I had originally found this dress for my Pretty in Pink article, it didn't work out, but I'm glad to have found a place to fit it in. In my head Ive matched this dress with opaque black tights and shiny black booties. Not exactly fitting to this article, so it could also go with the following tights, and white heels:

French Vanilla Tights ($24.95, modcloth.com) These tights have a great texture. Be careful to wear sunscreen underneath!

May Flowers Umbrella ($29.99, modcloth.com) This print reminds me of the print on the fans in the top photograph. Staying out of the sun will help your skin stay young, and the ladies of the court were always pale. Once again in the amazing blue color.

Find anything you think is really interesting the season? Let me know!
